Dr Louise Massey Presentation

Dr Louise Massey gave a presentation on the health of Wolverhampton and how cycling can help improve the situation.Copy of presentation can be downloaded from W. C. C. website or requested in document form from Pete Rollings.

Cycle Map Update

 

 

 

JP informed the Forum that the map was now in the final stages before going to print. He thanked WOW for their contribution to the map and the map will be ready for Bike Week.

Update from Infrastructure Meeting

 

 

 

Victoria Street Lights.

Unable to test due to works in Queen Square. Hopefully will be checked by next forum meeting.

 

 

 

Wednesfield Bus Gate.

Push button box has been ordered by Bob Willis. Should be in place by the end of July.

 

 

 

Advance Stop Lines

 

 

 

Wolves on Wheels and W.C.C. to come up with a cycle route along a secondary road (with spare capacity at junctions) where all the traffic lights would get ASL’s. Routes to be discussed at next infrastructure meeting.

 

 

 

Proposals for cycle route out to Castlecroft on hold pending discussions on cycling through parks.

Bikeability

 

 

 

Wolverhampton is applying to deliver Bikeability from September 2007.

 

 

 

Cycle Maintenance

 

 

 

Wolverhampton instructors have been trained to deliver cycle maintenance course to NVQ Level 1/2. Programme of Dr Bike sessions to start in BikeWeek.

 

 

 

Pendeford Bridge

 

 

 

Proposal for a new bridge linking Pendeford to Pendeford High School across canal has been put forward as part of a funding bid called “The PeopleÂ’s Millions” by W.C.C. Should know outcome by November 2007.

 

 

 

West Midlands Cycle Forum (WMCF)

 

 

 

Main discussion points were use of Bus Lanes by motorcycles, Bike Purchase schemes and Tour of Britain.

Wolves on Wheels

 

 

 

W.O.W requested a Traffic Light Map.

 

 

 

Can we help with Cycling for Women events.

 

 

 

Can W.C.C. route sign the 21 locks route on the cycle map.

British Waterways

 

 

 

John Harris from British Waterways finished the meeting off with a discussion on British Waterways plans for the I54 / Pendeford Bridge proposals.
